The largest hot-air balloon event takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico every October. At this year’s Alburquerque International Balloon Fiesta, hot-air balloons will rise over the city between Sat October 1-Sun October 9, 2016. The festival first began in 1972, with almost 600 balloons of various shapes and sizes filling the skies in recent years. The event is ticketed ($10/₹670 per session), but kids aged 12 and younger can watch the spectacle for free. This time-lapse video documents the extent of the festival, and is probably the next best thing to seeing the balloons up close in person.
