Travellers flying on Emirates can now apply for an e-visa to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via a new smartphone and tablet app launched by VFS Global. The Dubai Visa Processing Centre (DVPC) app is free, and available for iOS and Android devices.

The e-visa application process is simple. First, travellers require confirmed Emirates flight tickets for a return journey to the UAE, or a confirmed Emirates flight ticket onward from the UAE. Download the app, and log in with an email address. Key in your last name and the Emirates booking reference number to pull up the flight details. Make an online payment, and the e-visa will arrive via email within four international working days.

Passengers can use the DVPC app to request for a single-entry visa for 96 hours, 30 days, or 90 days, based on their Emirates itinerary. Apply up to four international working days prior to the Emirates flight departure date, or pay extra to apply up to two international working days prior to flight departure. The app stores a traveller’s visa application history, and can be used to track an ongoing application process. It also has information on visa types, requirements and pricing. For users who prefer to visit a visa centre, the app offers directions via Google Maps. Emirates’s passengers can also continue to apply for a visa via the airline’s website.

The app’s launch comes in good time for the winter holiday season. Whether you’re in transit in the UAE, or enjoying an extended break, make the most of your trip with our Dubai guides here and here.
