Thank you for your interest in contributing to National Geographic Traveller India. Please ensure you read all the points listed below before writing to us. Pitches that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
What we’re looking for
We’re interested in immersive travel experiences and destinations that are accessible to most people. Our stories have a strong personal element, which we’d like to hear about in the pitch sent to us. Only pitches sent to us after the trip—not before—will be considered. We do not publish stories that have already been published, even on a personal blog.
Length of the story
Most Traveller magazine features range from 1,500 to 2,500 words, depending on the subject. Features on the Traveller website range from 500 to 1,000 words. Browse through copies of the magazine, and through the sections on the website to get a better understanding of the stories you can pitch.
To send your story ideas for the website, write to firstname.lastname@example.org with a short pitch (under 100 words) outlining the crux of your story. Do not attach a copy of your story. If you’re pitching a photo or illustrated story, attach no more than 4 low-resolution images in the email, along with the pitch.
For the magazine, write to email@example.com.
How soon will you hear from us
All pitches are reviewed by our editorial team every 45 days. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to every one due to the volume of submissions we receive daily. Only those stories we can commission will receive an email from us. If you do not receive a response from us within 2 months, please assume that we are unable to commission your story.
